2023 Butterfield Bermuda Championship Trends
Winning Score
Brendon Todd won in 2019 with -24 but that was in much calmer conditions. The winners in 2021 and 2020, Lucas Herbert and Brian Gay, won with -15 in heavier winds whilst Seamus Power won with a score of -19 last year.
Course Form
Gay was 3rd here in 2019 before his win in 2020 but runner up Wyndham Clark was a debutant, as was 2021 winner Lucas Herbert. Seamus Power had made all three cuts in this event, with a best of twelth prior to winning last year. Course experience is preferred over recent form at this unique track.
Recent Form
Todd won in 2019 on the back of a 28th place finish at the Houston Open but had missed several cuts before that. In 2020, Gay arrived following four missed cuts and last year Hebert had also missed his previous two cuts. Seamus Power won last year on the back of some fairly average form (30-MC-49 in last three starts) too. Hot form coming in is not essential here.
Winning Profile
Seamus Power (2022) was world number 48 and winning his second PGA Tour title. Herbert (2021) was ranked 57th in the world and had won earlier that year in Ireland. Gay (2020) was ranked 318th before his win but it was his 5th PGA Tour title. Todd (2019) was ranked 522nd and was his second PGA Tour title.
Age
We've had a mix of ages win this event. Power and Todd were in their 30's, Herbert was in his 20's and Gay was in his late 40's!
Nationality
Two American winners, one Australian and one Irishman have triumphed here so far.

2023 Butterfield Bermuda Championship In-Play Advice
Tough Holes
The par 3s will go a long way to determining the winner. Holes 13 and 16 can play in excess of 230 yards and the eighth is 210 yards.
Birdie Holes
The 7th hole (par 5) is a must-birdie hole.
Fast or Slow Start
Power was three shots off the pace after round one in 16th position when winning last year. Herbert was 5 shots back after round one in 2021 and Gay was six back after round one in 2020. Herbert and Gay were both four back at halfway. Todd shot an opening 68 and trailed first round leader, Scottie Scheffler, by 6 in 2019. He was still behind with 18 holes to go, before overcoming a two shot deficit. It is possible to play catch up here.

2023 Butterfield Bermuda Championship Round 3 Summary
A bogey free round of 67 was enough to keep Alex Noren at the top of the leaderboard in Bermuda but Camilo Villegas has cut his lead to one shot. Conditions were much the same as the second round, with the wind once again a factor but not overly strong.
2023 Butterfield Bermuda Championship Round 4 Weather
Sunny intervals. Wind 16-18mph.
Back or Fade The Favourite?
Alex Noren has shortened to 13/8. The Swede has put on an extremely professional performance over the past three days, having made only one bogey all week and none in either of his last two rounds. An iron off the par five 17th hole in round three perhaps epitomised his approach, taking the danger out of play from the tee and backing himself to hit the green from further back than others.
Noren ranks 4th for Greens In Regulation so far this week and it's hard to see him gifting this to others. A prolific winner on the DP World Tour, he has plenty of experience in the locker, even if he hasn't held a 54 hole lead in over five years (January 2018 was his last 54 hole lead).
It's hard to escape the feeling that Noren may just have his pocket picked by one of the chasing pack though. Seamus Power triumphed when leading after 54 holes last year but the three third round leaders before him all failed to convert. Noren's three closest rivals have all outscored him over the last 36 holes and it wouldn't be a surprise to see at least one of them go low in the final round. We won't be advising Noren to our subscribers.
In-Play Butterfield Bermuda Championship Bets We Considered
Given Noren's solid play so far, it's hard to envisage the winner coming from outside the top five on the leaderboard and that's where we focused our attentions. That said, with three each way places available, the 35/1 on Kramer Hickok was a price we strongly considered. He loves this event and would appear to be on a hot streak at the moment after last week's 15th place finish in Mexico.

2023 Butterfield Bermuda Championship Round 2 Summary
The wind picked up slightly for round two but that didn't bother Alex Noren, who retained his two shot lead at the top of the leaderboard.
2023 Butterfield Bermuda Championship Round 3 Weather
Sunny intervals. Wind 15-17mph.
Back or Fade The Favourite?
Alex Noren remains favourite at 9/4 after adding a bogey free 66 to his opening round of 61. It looked very much like his lead would be bigger after opening with three birdies in his opening three holes but the putts dried up and
Noren stated in his post-round interview that he was actually hoping for the wind to pick up, both to improve his chances and prevent those further down being able to shoot the low scores we have seen so far. It seems like Noren will get his wish, with the forecast suggesting slightly windier conditions over the weekend.
Although a prolific winner on the DP World Tour, Noren has yet to win on the PGA Tour and his price is not one we're recommending to subscribers. Leaders don't have the best record in this event and there are plenty of chasers stacked up behind Noren.
In-Play Butterfield Bermuda Championship Bets We Considered
Every winner in the last four years has been inside the top twelve at this stage and three of those four winners were inside the top seven with 36 holes remaining. That said, we do have a bit more wind in the forecast over the weekend and there are sixteen players in the group between ten under par and thirteen under par. It wouldn't be a surprise to see those players make a run at Noren over the weekend.

2023 Butterfield Bermuda Championship Round 1 Summary
Players took full advantage of calm conditions and scoring was strong in both the morning and afternoon. Alex Noren was the man who took full advantage, opening with a round of 61. Round one was unable to be completed due to fading light.
2023 Butterfield Bermuda Championship Round 2 Weather
Sunny. Wind 12-15mph.
Back or Fade The Favourite?
Alex Noren is the 7/2 favourite but we're in no rush to back that. Round one leaders have a terrible record in this event, Scottie Scheffler being the only one in the last four years to go on to record a top five finish. There are 25 players within four shots of the lead at present and Noren will play in the slightly stronger breeze tomorrow afternoon.
In-Play Butterfield Bermuda Championship Bets We Considered
Every winner in the last four years has found themselves outside the top 15 after the opening 18 holes and we're targeting some big prices ahead of round two. Those players out early may just have the best of conditions and with a bit of breeze forecast over the weekend, we could well see history repeat itself.
The 200/1 on Camilo Villegas certainly caught our eye given last week's exploits. However, that price is only available with bet365 and could well be reduced in line with the rest of the market.
We also had a look at D.A. Points at 300/1 for the sole reason his last two wins have come completely out of nowhere. However, his record in this event is poor and he's played a significantly reduced schedule over the past couple of seasons. Having intentionally played lower stakes pre-event, we have gone with three selections for subscribers.
