Pressure Performance Analysis

Summary
It is perhaps a concern that Will has only won once given the number of winning opportunities he has had in his short career.  To his credit he hasn't shown a propensity to fall away on a Sunday but he hasn't demonstrated a killer instinct either.   His Golf Betting Club Pressure Performance Rating is set to ⭐⭐⭐.

August 2022
✅ Began the final round of the Fed-Ex St Jude Championship 2 shots back of Spaun and shot 66 to reach a playoff with Sepp Straka. Was handed the win in the playoff but finally got over the line.

June 2022
➖ Co-led going into the final round of the US Open and shot 69 to finish one shot short of winner Fitzpatrick.

May 2022
➖ Trailed Mito Pereira by 3 shots at the PGA Championship. Shot 71 to reach a playoff but was outplayed by Justin Thomas,

January 2022
➖ Co-led after 54 holes at the Farmers Insurance Open and shot 72 to finish tie Luke List. He missed a 8ft birdie putt on 18 to win but it was a decent effort considering it was a putt with a an element of break. Parred the last 12 holes of the final round.

August 2021
❌ Four shots back going into the final round of the Fortinet Championship, Will shot a 70 to slip from 9th to 11th.

April 2021
✅ Trailing Hideki Matsuyama by four shots (joint 2nd place) going into the final round of The Masters, Will shot a competent 70 to lose out by a stroke and claim solo 2nd.  A fine effort , even if Matsuyama was never in any danger.

January 2021
➖ Three back with 18 holes to go at the Farmers Insurance Open, a final round 71 saw him move up from 8th to 7th.

October 2020
✅ Will was in 7th place (3 shots back) with 18 holes to go at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open.  He posted a final round 69 to move up to 5th.

August 2020
➖ Final round of 70 saw Will move from 4th to 5th at the Nationwide Children's Hospital Championship.

July 2020
✅ Held a one shot lead going into the final round of the TPC Colorado Championship.  Shot a solid 69 to win by a shot.

Trends

Stays hot
Will had a run of form in 2020 on the Korn Ferry Tour that read 6-3-4-1-5-14-5-18-5-19-2-6-8.  He didn't quite replicate that in 2021 but he's a player who can post consecutive big finishes.

Time of the year
Will's record after a long break is very impressive.  His first start of the calendar year in 2020 yielded a 4th place finish and his first start of 2021 brought a 7th place finish.  His first start after the break for Coronavirus also yielded a 6th place finish.  Don't be afraid to back Will at the start of the year when others are rusty.

Events to back Zalatoris

US PGA Championship
Will is a course winner at this years venue, Southern Hills, having won the 2014 Trans-Mississippi Amateur Championship.  He's got course experience, it's likely to be windy and ball strikers will flourish.  Zalatoris is also on record in 2014 as saying,

"I absolutely love this golf course. I’m biased, but Southern Hills is seriously one of the best courses I’ve ever played. Everything is right in front of you; nothing is tricked up. And it is hard. I mean, this is a really hard golf course, and I love it."

Playoff Record

1-1.

Significant Quotes

2021 Sanderson Farms Championship
"I think it's funny that I get given a hard time about my putting and if you add in Augusta last year which didn't have Shot Link I would have been a positive strokes gained putter. Is it the prettiest? No. But am I productive? Yes. So the days where I make 20-footers, those are the days that I end up putting great round together, because I'm always going to be the guy that's going to hit 14 plus greens to give myself chances."

2021 Open Championship
"Love playing links golf......It's kind of similar to actually how we play in the wintertime back home. You know, Texas is very dry, and so we get a lot of wind, fog. Gets a little firm. Got to keep it on the ground, keep it underneath the wind. So I've kind of grown up on it and certain close way, it's not exactly links golf. But the few amount of links courses we have in the States, I know how to play them."

2020 Corales Puntacana Resort and Club Championship
"I live in Texas and I love playing in the wind, so the more wind, the tougher conditions, the better."
