Takumi had an outstanding amateur career, holding the number 1 ranking for 55 weeks. He won the 2018 Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship and made the cut at the Masters in 2019. Not content with winning amateur events, Takumi won the 2019 Mitsui Sumitomo VISA Taiheiyo Masters on the Japanese Tour before turning pro.
It was a smooth transition to the paid ranks as towards the end of last year he won the Dunlop Phoenix on the Japanese Tour and posted several top 5 finishes.
Takumi ended 2020 ranked 123 in the official world golf rankings. It's very likely he'll be ranked within the top 100 by the end of 2021.
Takumi only turned pro in 2020.
Takumi hoped to play the European Tour in 2021 but expect to see him wherever he can get an invite.
Pressure Performance Analysis
Takumi was two shots back going into the final round of the Golf Nippon Series JT Cup. Shot a 70 to slip from 3rd to 5th.
One shot behind with 18 holes remaining, Takumi shot a 69 to force a playoff with Tomohiro Ishizaka. Takumi would win the playoff.

Trailed by 5 at the Japan Open. Shot a better than average 69 but lost out by four shots.

Major and WGC Analysis
Takumi made the cut as an amateur at the Masters. He's also teed it up at the 2019 Open Championship and 2020 US Open. He'll likely need to gain further experience before he can be considered a winner of these events.
Yet to play any but will be a danger in future.
Takumi has only been in one playoff. He made a birdie at the fourth hole of the Dunlop Phoenix in 2020 to seal victory.

"I knew that if I don't win my second victory since the Taiheiyo Masters, I won't be able to gain recognition so I really wanted to win as fast as I could."
