BIO

Lefty Garrick is one of an emerging crop of South African youngsters who look set to rise to the top of the game. Having turned pro in early 2019, it didn't take him long to win, as he won in May on the Big Easy Tour and then again in June on the Sunshine Tour.

Better was to follow in 2020 as he won the Tour Championship on the Sunshine Tour before securing his breakthrough win on the European Tour at the Open de Portugal.

In 2021, he took his career to the next step with two European Tour wins in three weeks in the Canary Islands. He then followed that with a shock win on the PGA Tour at Palmetto. A dissapointing 2nd half of 2021 saw him slip out of the top 50 in the world.

Significant info

Garrick only turned pro in 2019.

Significant Quotes

Gran Canaria Lopesan Open 2021
“I wasn’t nervous on the outside, but it was the first time ever that I have had a lead, you know starting the day, because all my other wins have been from behind, so I know what it is like to beat someone and I knew that it could change even on the 17th, so I was just trying to keep myself in the battle."

Tour Championship (Sunshine Tour) 2020
“I wasn’t really expecting to win this one. I just came here to play my best golf and have some fun. And even today, it didn’t really feel like I was up there but things kind of changed on 16 when I made the eagle and I don’t know what Thriston did. I don’t really like the front nine here so I was happy to get out of there with a decent score."

2020 BMW Championship
“I’m used to five people watching me, not 1,000. If there aren’t fans, then it takes some of the pressure off of me.”
