Pressure Performance Rating
January 2021 - Began the final round of the American Express 4 shots behind Si Woo Kim. Shot 61 to lose out on a play off by one shot. Kim had to birdie 16 and 17 to beat him. It was the best round of the day by 3 shots and holed a long birdie putt on 18 to give himself a chance.
October 2020 - Patrick trailed by three shots going into the final round at the Zozo Championship. Shot a final round 65 which included nine birdies to win by a shot. Did well to win but was helped by poor final rounds from Justin Thomas and Jon Rahm.
October 2020 - Held a share of the 54 hole lead for the first time in his career at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open. Missed a 5ft par putt on the first hole which set the tone for the rest of the round and he slumped to a 73, the worst score of anyone in the top 30.
October 2019 - Held the joint 36 hole lead and was two shots behind with a round to go at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open. Shot a 68 but lost out in a playoff to Kevin Na.
August 2019 - Was a distant 2nd to Justin Thomas with 18 holes to play at the BMW Championship. Did well to shoot a 65 but was a long way off and lost out by three.
June 2019 - Patrick was four shots behind Martin Kaymer at The Memorial. An excellent final round 64 was enough to see him win by 2 shots.
Summary - It speaks volumes that Patrick is 0-5 for converting when he has held a 36 hole lead and was very poor when he had a share of the 54 hole lead at the 2020 Shriners. Aa shown at The American Express, he is a massive threat when coming from off the pace, he's not to be trusted when front running. His Golf Betting Club Pressure Performance Rating is set at 3 stars.
Playoff Record
1-2. Patrick's sole playoff success came at the 2017 Shriners Hospitals for Children Open where he recorded a par to beat Alex Cejka and Whee Kim. Given the nature of opposition in his sole playoff win, he's not one to side with in a playoff scenario.
Significant Quotes
2021 AT&T Pebbel Beach Pro-am
The biggest change really in the last three or four years has been moving to Florida from California and I've enjoyed that, being on the East Coast......I think being on the Bermuda grass all the time, and it's so windy in Florida that playing that different type of golf there and getting used to that only helps me when I go out on the road. So I've enjoyed Florida and I feel like I'm getting more and more confident on Bermuda all the time.
2021 Tournament of Champions
So I'm going to play a decent amount, like the California swing and play some of my favourite events this year, like Hilton Head or other places that I played well. And other than that it's just prepping really well for the majors and I feel like Augusta is one of my favorite spots, so it will be nice to go back there so quickly after we just were there in November.
I've learned to enjoy this place. The first year I played it I didn't like it and I just, once you kind of adapt to not hitting any normal shots, it's just not a normal golf course, so once you realize that you're going to hit some goofy shots out there, but that's how you play well, I started to like this place more.
2021 Shriners Hospitals for Children Open
I like the course. It sets up for a right-to-left shot on a lot of holes, which is my preferred shot.
2020 BMW Championship
"I really like when the golf course gets firm and fast and you have to think your way around. I thought Memorial got a little too crazy, and that golf course isn't really set up for it, but this golf course is set up for it perfectly, and yeah, I think it's a fantastic setup."
2020 Travellers Championship
Whenever I get here, I feel like I have a little bit of a warm spot for this place...........and I can't help but get good vibes whenever I'm around this place...........The more weeks we can play at Muirfield Village, I'm in. I like the golf course, so we can play there every week as far as I'm concerned.
