The 2019 Wyndham Championship was notable as the first PGA Tour event since 1974 where the winner did not record a bogey or worse. The course has also seen a 59 with Brandt Snedeker having achieved this feat in 2018.
Players from North Carolina have a strong record here with J.T. Poston winning in 2019 and Webb Simpson being somewhat of a course specialist. Carl Pettersson is another past champion with North Carolina links.

Winning Score
Last year, the winning score was -20 however in 2021 it was only -15. In the previous five editions, the winning score had been between -21 or -22.
Course Form
A mixed bag, course form isn't essential. Tom Kim won as debutant last year. Prior to that, three of the past six champions had no course form to speak of prior to winning (Si Woo Kim, Henrik Stenson and JT Poston). However, 2018, 2020 and 2021 champions - Brandt Snedeker, Jim Herman, and Kevin Kisner - had both posted top 12 finishes prior to winning.
Recent Form
Last year's champion Tom Kim was 7th at the Rocket Mortgage in his previous start. 2021 winner Kevin Kisner, had two top 10's in his last four starts but two most recent starts had been mediocre
2020 champion Jim Herman, had no form whatsoever coming into the tournament. However the previous four champions had each posted a top 45 finish the week before (three of those four had recorded a top 30 the week before). Recent form looks a bonus here.
World Ranking
The last seven winners have ranked 34-52-318-158-88-9-114. Outsiders do win here.

SG: Approach
The last seven winners have ranked 19-12-4-1-4-3-2. Approach play is very important.
Greens In Regulation
The last seven winners have ranked 20-8-1-3-23-3-8. As indicated above, approach play is key.
SG: Around The Green
The last seven winners have ranked 108-26-94-28-10-47-63. We don't need to focus on this category this week.
SG: Putting
The last seven winners have ranked 1-8-3-17-24-3-56. A hot putter has been key in recent years.
Wyndham Championship In Play Tips
Tough Holes
The 14th and 18th play as the hardest holes, both are par 4s measuring over 500 yards.
Birdie Holes
The two par 5's are ranked as the easiest holes on the course. The short par 4, 8th hole plays as the 3rd easiest on the course.
Closing Stretch
The 16th and 17th, averaged around 0.1 strokes under par last year but the 18th played 0.14 stokes over par.
Fast or Slow Start
You can recover from a slow start here. Winners in the last seven years have placed 23rd, 9th, 13th, 16th, 1st, 2nd and 41st after Round 1.
Two winners in the last seven years has been outside the top 10 at halfway (Jim Herman 2020 and Kevin Kisner 2021).
Every winner in the last seven years has been inside the top 5 through 54 holes. Three of those seven have led with 18 holes to go. It should be noted Si Woo Kim got into a playoff in 2021 from 15th place in round 3.

2023 Wyndham Championship Round 3 Summary
Russell Henley has relinquished the lead, with Lucas Glover and Billy Horschel now joint leaders going into the final round.
Notable Round 3 Wyndham Championship Quotes
"I grew up on putting a lot of bermuda greens, I seem to read the greens pretty well. I think I'm OK laying back off the tees a lot to make sure I'm in the fairway. When my irons are sharp, I seem to be able to make a lot of birdies. I think you try to attack this place a little too aggressive and miss some fairways, it can bite you. I learned that quite a while ago. I think it's just a "fairways first" mentality, and then if you get some good numbers and hit it close, you've got a good chance to make some birdies." Lucas Glover
"We're going to have to go out there, play our games and see what happens. I'm happy where my game is, I'm happy where things are trending, I'm happy where mentally I'm heading. So hopefully it's just another day of moving forward, it's another steppingstone. I haven't been here in a while, but I'm prepared for whatever -- however I may feel, whatever comes tomorrow." Billy Horschel
2023 Wyndham Championship Round 4 Weather
Potential thunderstorms. Wind 10-12mph.
Back or Fade The Favourite?
Billy Horschel is the 2/1 favourite and will be difficult to beat. Horschel appears to be playing with a carefree attitude given his earlier struggles this season and that could well be key to him converting. The former FedEx Cup winner tops the SG: Putting stats but also ranks 9th for SG: Tee to Green. We'd certainly prefer Horschel at 2/1 over Glover at 9/4.
In-Play Wyndham Championship Bets We Considered
Each of the last five winners of this event have been inside the top five going into the final round and that trend looks set to continue given the top four have separated themselves from the rest. We aren't looking any further down the leaderboard than Ben An.

2023 Wyndham Championship Round 2 Summary
Birdies at his closing two holes saw Russell Henley jump out of the group at ten under par and enabled him to retain a one shot lead at the top of the leaderboard.
Notable Round 2 Wyndham Championship Quotes
"I think I've learned a lot about my game. I think I'm -- I definitely am more content with whatever happens now than maybe a couple years ago. I desperately want to play well, but definitely have learned a lot from some of those ones that stung a little bit." Russell Henley
"I know I have to win or finish solo second, I realized that I think Sunday night when I got here. If it happens, it happens. If it doesn't, it doesn't. Like I said, I've just, I realized a couple months ago there's a really good chance I may not make the Playoffs based off the way my game is going, so I was just more or less trying to focus on getting the game back in the right shape and getting some momentum going into the fall which would hopefully carry over into '24. I'm still in that same mindset. I have a trip planned with my kids and my wife to Abaco Club next week if we don't get in. Listen, it's a win-win, I either go to Memphis or I go to Abaco with my kids and wife for the week. So we'll see what happens this weekend." Billy Horschel
2023 Wyndham Championship Round 3 Weather
Sunny intervals. Wind 4-7mph.
Back or Fade The Favourite?
Russell Henley has shortened to 9/4 and our opinion very much remains the same. Henley is more than capable of winning this event, he's striking the ball well and has a great record at Sedgefield. However, we're expecting plenty of birdies over the weekend and he will have to hold off challenges from those chasing.
In-Play Wyndham Championship Bets We Considered
Two of the last five winners of this event have led at halfway, but we've also seen players come from significantly further down the leaderboard to win. Branden Grace was 32nd at the halfway point when triumphing in 2021 and Jim Herman was 36th at this stage when he won in 2020!
Justin Thomas was a player who was definitely on our radar at 80/1. Thomas was second for SG: Tee to Green in round two and is certainly a player who has shown in the past that he can make up ground over the weekend. We're already on him pre-event though and are content to cheer any charge up the leaderboard with our existing bet slips.
We backed Jim Herman at 300/1 at this stage in 2020 and there are a number of players who fit the Herman profile. With most bookmakers offering four each way places, we strongly considered bets on Robert Streb (400/1) and Charley Hoffman (500/1).

2023 Wyndham Championship Round 1 Summary
Rain fell for much of the day before clearing up for the back nine of the afternoon starters. The late starters were able to take advantage, with the top four on the leaderboard coming from that wave.
Notable Round 1 Wyndham Championship Quotes
"I think so. I mean, I felt like I putted pretty well here. I definitely am more comfortable on bermudagrass than, say, poa annua, something we play out west, so that definitely attributes to it for sure.." Russell Henley
" Yeah, it was great. I hit my irons probably the best I've hit them in probably three or four months now. I'm starting to trend a little bit better off the tee and my mid iron game. Yeah, very happy with today. Just got to keep it up for three more days. " Adam Svensson
2023 Wyndham Championship Round 2 Weather
Rainy until late afternoon. Wind 4-7mph.
Back or Fade The Favourite?
Russell Henley is currently 11/4 favourite and that looks short considering the forecast is for rain all morning and might make things tough for the leaders. He has a strong record at Sedgefield and we fully expect him to get his fourth top 10 in a row here but the win price looks poor and the draw bias could even up today if the forecast plays out as expected.
In-Play Wyndham Championship Bets We Considered
We have considered afternoon starters who may enjoy the same advantage as yesterday. Ludvig Aberg goes out in the last group today and we were tempted by the 33/1 on offer at Skybet. Had his driving accuracy stats been a tad better we probably would have pulled the trigger.
