2023 Sanderson Farms Championship Trends
Winning Score
The nine previous editions of the Sanderson Farms Championship have been won with scores ranging between -16 and -22.
Course Form
Of the last eight winners, only Sam Burns and Sebastian Munoz had anything remotely resembling previous course form. Prior to Mackenzie Hughes winning last year, Munoz was the only winner to have made the cut in the year prior, having placed 50th in 2018. Five of the nine winners have been course debutants.
Recent Form
Six of the last nine champions had recorded at least one top 25 finish in their previous two starts. Look to those players who played well at the Fortinet Championship a few weeks ago.
Previous PGA Tour Winners
Six of the last nine winners have been first time winners on the PGA Tour. Given we've had winners such as Peter Malnati and Cody Gribble in recent times, it's definitely an event to consider outsiders.
Korn Ferry Tour
Four of the last nine champions had only just graduated to the PGA Tour from the Korn Ferry Tour. Note - there were no Korn Ferry Tour graduates in 2020 due to Covid.
Age
Six of the nine course winners have been in their twenties.

2023 Sanderson Farms Championship Round 3 Summary
Ben Griffin has opened up a three shot lead at the top of the Sanderson Farms Championship leaderboard. Only Cameron Champ and Scott Stallings bettered Griffin's round of 66.
2023 Sanderson Farms Championship Round 4 Weather
Sunny. Wind 3-6mph.
Back or Fade The Favourite?
Ben Griffin is the 8/13 favourite given his three shot lead and impressive display thus far. The 27 year old ranks third in SG: Tee to Green for the week and has only made one bogey all week.
We are somewhat annoyed at ourselves for not being on Griffin given he ticked a number of trends this week. Griffin was one of thirteen names identified in this week's preview but his lack of competitive action (he hadn't played competively for almost two months until this week) was a factor that ultimately put us off.
Griffin's price going into the final round has to be questioned though. He's held the third round lead twice in his career and been unable to convert either. Griffin indicated in his post round press conference that he learnt plenty from last year's opportunity at the Bermuda Championship but it's been almost a year since he was in contention to win an event and he may well feel the pressure in today's final round.
In-Play Sanderson Farms Championship Bets We Considered
Each of the last five winners of this event have been in first or second position through 54 holes so we aren't looking too far down the leaderboard for a potential winner. Much will depend on how Ben Griffin fares, with those further down the leaderboard having a chance to win if he slips up.
We have three selections inside the top 15 going into the final round but Cameron Champ is our main hope from our pre-tournament picks. The winner here in 2018, he could well be in the mix if he can replicate his Sunday 65. We've given one further name to subscribers going into the final round.

2023 Sanderson Farms Championship Round 2 Summary
Conditions were once again conducive to low scoring, Ben Griffin shooting a best of the week 63 to open up a two shot lead at the top of the leaderboard in Mississippi.
2023 Sanderson Farms Championship Round 3 Weather
Sunny. Wind 10-12mph.
Back or Fade The Favourite?
Ben Griffin is the 5/2 favourite heading into the weekend. That price seems mightily short to us though considering he has yet to win on the PGA Tour and has yet to convince when leading. His only career halfway lead came at the 2022 Astara Championship, where he would go on to finish second. A similar fate befell him at the 2022 Bermuda Championship, where he held the third round lead before finishing third.
Griffin has been solid with his approach play this week (he ranks 7th S: Approach) but it has been his putter that has been the key to his scoring. Only Scott Stallings has gained more strokes on the greens this week than the leader and that further puts us off the price of 5/2.
In-Play Sanderson Farms Championship Bets We Considered
Three of the last five winners have been outside the top six on the leaderboard at this stage but none of those players have been outside the top ten. With that in mind, our focus has been on the players who are eleven under par or better.

2023 Sanderson Farms Championship Round 1 Summary
Soft conditions and very little breeze saw players go low on the opening day of the 2023 Sanderson Farms Championship. Chesson Hadley was the man who went lowest, opening with a round of 64.
2023 Sanderson Farms Championship Round 2 Weather
Sunny intervals. Wind 10-15mph.
Back or Fade The Favourite?
Ludvig Aberg remains favourite with the bookmakers after an opening round of 67. The young Swede was pre-tournament favourite and put in another fine driving performance (4th SG: Off The Tee) in day one to set up a number of birdie opportunities.
Our concern with Aberg before the start of the even was how he would fare after the energy expended last week at the Ryder Cup. Early signs are that he is unaffected but fatigue may well set in towards the end of the week and the 8/1 isn't a price for us with such low scoring.
In-Play Sanderson Farms Championship Bets We Considered
As we noted in the preview, winners of this event haven't always got off to the fastest of starts. Four of the last nine winners had started with a round of three under par or worse and Mackenzie Hughes was five shots behind after round one last year. With that in mind, we took a look at several players off the pace at big odds.
Ryan Moore was our favourite of the players priced up at huge odds. Moore shot an opening 69 but ranked 4th in SG: Approach. Had we not already been on him from before the start of the event, he would have been in our staking plan today.
