Stats Zone
,Golf is a sport which is awash with stats. Browse the PGA Tour website or the European Tour website and virtually any stat you want regarding player performance is available. The stats do not, however, give you an indicator as to which betting markets are best suited to each player. Let's say you fancy a player to play well in a particular tournament because he is on form and has good course form, your natural instinct may be to place a bet on that player to win the tournament. How often would you take into account that player's record at winning tournaments? Could it be that you'd be better served backing the player you fancy to record a top-10 finish instead of a win?
Take Xander Schaueffele and Bryson DeChambeau as test cases. At the time of writing (April 2020), Xander is ranked 12th in the Official World Golf Rankings and Bryson is ranked 13th. Both have broadly played the same number of events in their career (118 for Bryson vs 116 for Xander) and Bryson has 7 wins to Xander's 4. And yet, despite Bryson having almost twice as many wins as Xander, it's Xander who is 10 points shorter with the bookmakers in the Win market for each Major in 2020.
Our stats are therefore designed to allow you to determine whether you are getting value for money for your chosen selection. Different bookmakers offer different betting markets so you may want to check out our Bookie Guide!
