BIO
Mikko was very much the definition of a journeyman without a win on any tour until 2018 when he notched his first career win at the Shot Clock Masters. Given that he has spent much of his career at Challenge Tour and European Tour level it was fitting that his breakthrough came at a tournament which had its origins as an event that hopped between the European Tour and Challenge Tour.
Significant info
Mikko turned 40 in July 2020.

Trends
Avoid when rusty
If you are going to back him it's worth noting that he's a player who needs a week to shake off rust and get his competitive edge. He's missed the cut in each of his last three season openers after the Christmas break. Also worth noting that in 2019, Mikko missed 4 cuts all season, each of those came immediately after at least a week off. In 2018, 5 of his 9 missed cuts came after a week off and in 2017, 4 of his 7 missed cuts came after a break.
Time of the year
Mikko is at his best in May and June. His two wins on tour have come in those months and he has recorded three second place finishes in his career and two of those have also come in May and June.

Significant Quotes
2019 Volvo China Open
"It’s an amazing feeling. I don’t know how I did it but it’s probably the putter that was my winning formula this week. I made lots of putts from outside 15-20 feet this week. Winning a golf tournament is never easy. It was a battle all day as everyone was making putts and I had to stay patient and do the same. It’s great to have this second win in the bag and I’m delighted."
