BIO

Guido turned pro in 2016 and learnt the pro ropes in 2017 and 2018 playing the Alps Tour and Challenge Tour.  He nabbed the 13th card at European Tour Qualifying School in 2018 and made his European Tour debut in 2019.  It didn't take Guido long to make his mark on the European Tour, winning the Magical Kenya Open in early 2019.

Guido recorded his first major top 5 at the 2021 US Open and appears to be more comfortable playing stateside these days.

Interestingly, he was one of the first signings to Niall Horan's (member of famous boy band, One Direction) golf management company, Modest Golf.  Niall has subsequently commented that, we’d been told, when Guido gets a sniff he’ll win. He’ll be streaky, but he’ll be good and they were right.

Significant info

Guido signed an equipment contract with Callaway in January 2020 which yielded mixed results.  Whilst it did bring Guido a 4th place finish at the Oman Open early on, overall the year wasn't great and saw him slip outside the top 200 in the world rankings.

June 2021

May 2021

June 2019

Trends

Avoid when rusty
In each of his 3 full years as a professional to date Guido has started the season slowly, recording several missed cuts.  He's probably one to avoid in January and February until we see signs that he is able to come out the winter break firing.

Unpredictable
Guido's first European Tour win (and one of his Alps Tour wins) came the week after a missed cut so we shouldn't be put off to win an event because he has had a missed cut the week before.  In 2020 his only two top 10s came on the back of missed cuts.

Playoff Record

1-1.

Significant Quotes

Magical Kenya Open - 2019
"I like this moment," he had said at the time. "I like the pressure, it's like a drug. I love pressure, I love playing with a lot of people looking at me and a lot of cameras.
"There was a lot of pressure on the course. After the birdie at the 12th I was leading but it was tough. I just kept patient towards the end, that was it.”
