2025 Turkish Airlines Open Course Quotes

“Some great par 3s around this golf course. I think that's where you're going to see a few guys make mistakes or play them well. But both golf courses are fantastic down here. Very heavily tree-lined but give you enough room between the trees and take shots. The wind can obviously swirl and bounce off the trees which makes it pretty difficult. I think this golf course have got a few more run-offs to certain areas which you can't go in. But I think you'll probably end up seeing similar-ish kind of scoring. From what we saw yesterday, the greens are fantastic. So you get the guys hitting a lot of wedges into greens, and the greens are rolling as good as they are; you're probably going to see some low scores out there. So going back to the question, I think that there's probably no harm in chucking a few tough par 4s in there if they have the opportunity to move the tees around." Danny Willett, 2016.

"I played here a couple years ago at The Challenge Tour. It has changed a little bit, with the resort being built after that, and there was a hole running right here which is gone now but they added one on the front nine now, so it kind of changed a little bit. But still, I remember most of the holes from back then." Bernd Wiesberger, 2016

"It's not an easy course. If you play solid, if you hit it straight, then you're going to get a lot of birdie chances because the greens are receptive and they roll really good. So that's the main thing. Four or five metre's putt, 20, 25 feet, are actually makeable putts. So you can hit the ball around that area many times and from there, you can score." Matteo Mannasero, 2016

"It's kind of narrow fairway, but if ball-striking very solid, you can shoot really, really low here. I think I can do well here." Haotong Li, 2016

"I like the layout. I think there's a lot of holes where you can hit driver. I think if you drive it well, you're going to give yourself a lot of chances." Tommy Fleetwood, 2017

"If you start missing fairways and missing greens, it becomes tough quickly. There's a lot of overhanging trees and some good run-offs and the greens are going to get faster as the week goes on. I think water comes into play on a lot of the holes, so I think you have to be hitting the ball well." Lee Westwood, 2017

"I don't think it's a golf course you can be very aggressive off the tee, actually. You have to play the design. 18 is the perfect example. They have added a tee at the back which all of a sudden now you have to play the hole where last year some of us could actually bomb it over the water. So it's a tough finish. There's a good par 5, 15. But 16, 17, 18 are holes that require good shots. There's a lot of holes that are a bit like that throughout the round. So it's not a golf course that you can just go out and actually rip apart. You still have to play the thing and be somehow sensible." Nicolas Colsaerts, 2017

"You kind of have to hit the fairways. You have those trees that come in certain times on certain holes. It's not one of those golf courses you just tee it up and rip it. It's almost like an easier version of Valderrama-type thing; off the tee looks the same, and if you place the ball well on the fairways, you can be pretty aggressive at pins. The greens are designed in a way where these pockets are there and they are pretty appealing. So if you place your ball well off the fairway, you can go at the pins." Nicolas Colsaerts, 2017

"I think you'll see guys play it really differently. You'll see guys take driver and try to get it as close as possible to the greens. Especially how guys are reading it these days because of the heat, a few of the bunkers aren't really in play for the longer hitters. It's not as strategic as I think some weeks are, but you still have to hit it well." Danny Willett, 2018

"You've got to shoot low, definitely. The course is gettable, the rough is not that high and the greens are just perfect." Thomas Detry, 2018.
