Since 2018, the SA Open has been dominated by home market favourites, with Dean Burmester, Thriston Lawrence, Daniel Von Tonder, Christaian Bezuidenhout, Branden Grace and Louis Oosthuizen winning the last six editions at odds of 33/1 or less.

Durban CC has underwent significant changes since it last hosted a challenge tour event in 2022. Flooding to the course for six weeks meant they had to practically re-develop and redesign most of the course, including building 18 new greens. 

Traditionally, accurate operators have flourished here over the years such as Tim Clark, Ernie Els, Louis Oosthuizen and JC Ritchie. The course changes appear to feature more water hazards and accurate play should we rewarded once again despite the changes.
