Type of Course: Short and fiddly, elevated by 4000ft above sea level.
Used Since: 1939. No event in 2020.
Fairways: Tree-lined and undulating.
Greens: Small, Undulated, Poa/Bent.
Water Hazard: In-play on six holes, all of which on the back nine.
Par 5's: 9th, 14th and 15th.
Premium on: Form at altitude.

We have plenty of course form here to help us. The altitude and uniqueness of the course gives it a character all of its own.
At 6,823 yards, it is one of the shortest on tour. The ball travels 10% further due to altitude so there is a heavy emphasis on plotting your way around.

Since 2001 has ranged from -13 to -20. Last year was -19 whilst 2022 was -18. We should expect a similar winning score this week.
Winning Profile
We have plenty of repeat winners here: Fitzpatrick (2017 and 2018), Bjorn (2011 and 2013) and Noren (2009 and 2016). Soderberg was ranked 287th before his win in 2019 but the majority of recent winners have been of a high European Tour calibre. 2022 winner Thriston Lawrence had won earlier in the season in South Africa whilst Aberg went on to win on the PGA Tour weeks later in 2023.

The last five winners had a top 10 in their previous start. It may pay to back an in form player this week.

The last four winners, Ludvig Aberg, Thriston Lawrence, Rasmus Hojgaard and Sebastian Soderberg, won on their debuts but the four winners prior had two top 10's at Crans previously.

Fast or Slow Start
Catch up is possible here although Aberg was never more than three behind last year and Lawrence and Wallace were up with the pace after every round on route to a playoff in 2022 .
Only three winners in the past seven years has been inside the top 12 after the opening round. Three of the last seven winners have been outside the top 30 after round one.
The last seven winners have all been inside the top 15 after round two. Rasmus Hojgaard was the first winner in the last seven years to have won from a position outside the top 10 after three rounds.

Sunny but extremely windy with players making trebles and quadruple bogeys on some holes.
2024 Omega European Masters Round 4 Weather Bias?
Heavy rain possible and a thunderstorm late afternoon is forecast. It will be significantly less windy though than round three, with the wind peaking at 10mph.
Round 4 Outright Market Summary
Matt Wallace retained his four shot lead despite some questionable play early on. Wallace got himself out of jail on several occasions with the putter and took advantage of birdie opportunities to remain in the driving seat gong into the final round. The Englishman is now a best price of 2/5.
Wallace converted a third round lead at the 2018 Indian Open but he hasn't impressed lately when leading after 54 holes. On each of the last seven occasions Wallace has led through three rounds, he has been unable to finish the job.
It shouldn't be forgotten that Wallace is a winner on the PGA Tour and a four time winner on the DP World Tour but front running hasn't been his forte. If the forecasted heavy rain does materialise, we could yet see Wallace struggle and a winner emerge from off the pace.

We've highlighted Wallace's record when leading and with weather set to potentially make conditions difficult, it wouldn't be a surprise to see Wallace to drop a few shots in his final round. The short par fours and reachable par five 14th hole should see him make a few birdies but it's entirely possible he shoots 69 or worse in the final round, especially as he looks to protect a big lead.

Round 3 Outright Market Summary
Matt Wallace shot the round of the day and takes a four shot lead into the weekend. Matt Fitzpatrick has fallen away but his brother Alex remains his closest challenger. Wallace was one of the pre-event favourites and has been hinting a big week is around the corner recently. It's a big lead for a class act such as him although it should be noted that he failed to convert two 54 hole leads on the DP World Tour in 2023. He's yet to be tested this year but he may have an unassailable lead at the end of round three.

The morning starters enjoyed the better conditions despite the scores, with the rain causing the afternoon starters problems for an hour or so.

Matt Wallace is narrow favourite over the Fitzpatrick brothers and all three can be backed between 5/1 and 15/2. With 37 players within four shots of the lead and low scores available tomorrow, none of those prices are tempting us in and there looks to be better value further down the board.
