2024 Australian PGA Championship Course Quotes

“Royal Queensland already compares favourably with some of the British Championship courses. It should have a very great future, and will be an excellent test of golf." Course Website

“This course is quite wide, so you’ve got to hit decent approach shots around this course. You’ve got to miss them in the right spots.” Min Woo Lee, 2023

2024 BMW Australian PGA Championship Round 2 Conditions

Sunny with a gentle breeze.  The course remained receptive following the heavy rain that caused the postponement of play on Friday.

2024 BMW Australian PGA Championship Round 3 Weather Bias?

Sunny intervals with a moderate breeze.

2024 BMW Australian PGA Championship Round 3 Outright Market Summary

Cameron Smith is the 6/4 favourite with only one round to go.  The home favourite described his game as "pretty solid," despite a few errant shots towards the end of his round.

The chasers can perhaps take heart from the fact that Smith let slip a final round lead at last week's New South Wales Open.  Smith put in a disappointing round of 74 (his worst score of the week by six shots) to lose out to Lucas Herbert.  He also failed to convert the Hong Kong Open this time last year when leading going into the final round.

Smith has however shown himself to be a competent closer on LIV, recording three wins from leading positions going into the final round.  He's certainly the man to beat.

Marc Leishman is the 4/1 second favourite and that price and that's a more than fair price.  However, you have to look back to 2020 for his last solo win and he hasn't been in contention for a win all year.

Our 110/1 Adrich Potgieter finished poorly having led by three strokes at one stage.  However, he has the ability to make plenty of birdies and we remain hopeful he can mount a final round birdie blitz, just as he did when winning on the Korn Ferry Tour earlier this year.

2024 BMW Australian PGA Championship Round 1 Conditions

Cloudy all day with the wind picking up slightly in the afternoon with some scattered showers.

2024 BMW Australian PGA Championship Round 2 Weather Bias?

Similar to round one but light rain showers are forecast for much of the day.  The wind will once again pick up in the afternoon but rain showers may also ease late afternoon so no significant bias.

2024 BMW Australian PGA Championship Round 2 Outright Market Summary

Cameron Smith recovered from a slow start to shoot a four under par round of 67 and position himself as the 5/1 favourite after round one.  After playing his opening nine holes in level par, the former Open Champion posted four birdies on his back nine to find himself in the group two shots off the leader, Elvis Smylie.

With most of the pre-event favourites off to a fast start too, whether to back Smith or not likely depends on how you viewed his chances pre-event.  Only Lucas Herbert has given himself work to do out of the big names and this event remains wide open.

Given Smith's pedigree and his recent results (2nd and 3rd when warming up in Australia prior to this event), he is the rightful favourite and anticipated to go very close come Sunday.
